WRT54GC router/WAP - plug into router?
Since you already have an primary router, you can set the WRT54GC to act not as a router but as a wireless switch. Here are the steps to set up the WRT54GC: 1. Press the reset button on the WRT54GC for 10 seconds, release then unplug the power adapter. 2. Connect a pc to any numbered port at the back of the WRT54GC. 3. Plug the power back on the WRT54GC. 4. Disable any firewall programs temporarily. 5. Access the setup page of the WRT54GC by typing 192.168.1.1 on your browser. username:leave blank / password:admin 6. Click on the "advanced routing" sub tab and select router for the operating mode. Save the settings. Click on the "wireless tab". Change the SSID to something else. This will be the name of your wireless network. Save the settings. 7. Click on the "basic setup" sub tab. Change the local ip address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.25.1. Disable the DHCP server then save the settings. 8. Unplug the power from the WRT54GC. 9. Connect the WRT54GC to y
